Distributed Generation

The reliability, quality, & service continuity of utility power is generally declining.
Have financial implications from power interruptions been subjectively quantified at your facility?

Power interruptions pose a minor inconvenience at best; corporate bankruptcy at worse. Stand-by generation and Powerware UPS Systems can hedge your risk. On-site power sources that are installed, operated, and maintained by PSS are one solution.

With deregulation, competition is coming to the electric power industry. That means new opportunities for electric utilities and their customers. The future of electric power lies in distributed generation - thousands of small power systems in industrial and commercial facilities, working together as "virtual power plants."

Under programs known as "peak sharing," utility customers install generator sets and operate them at times of peak utility power demand, when directed by the utility. In return, the utility pays monthly credits or grants special interruptible pricing. Payback on the generating equipment is often three years or less.

Savings opportunities will grow as power markets open to competition. Instead of flat rates, customers will pay market prices based on supply and demand. Customers with on-site generation will be able to:
* Generate their own power at times of high market prices - in effect capping their energy price.
* Sell excess power at a profit on the free market.
* Convert idle standby power systems into revenue-producing assets.
