Active harmonic filters by PSS are the premium solution to mitigating harmonic
distortion. Simply connect in parallel with a highly-distorted non-linear
load, at a distribution panel or at the service entrance panel,
and clean up both voltage and current waveforms from the connected point upstream.
Meets Power Quality Standards
All international power quality standards can be met using PSS active harmonic
filters. These include IEEE-519,AS-2279,BS G5/4,EN61000-3-4 and more.
Reduce Energy Consumption
Active harmonic filters reduce the amount of energy required to supply non-linear and
reactive loads. Energy demands on utility power can be reduced by as much as 20
percent when harmonics are reduced to less than 5 percent and power factor is
improved to better than .95.
System Reliability Maximized
Because the active harmonic filters are connected in parallel with your
system, there are no series elements that could cause a disruption
in power delivery to your load. You do not need to worry about adding a filter bypass circuit as
with low pass filter technologies. Additionally,
filters achieve the lowest level of harmonic distortion without increasing your series
impedance. This means full voltage is delivered to your loads.
Improve Power Factor
In addition to minimizing harmonics, active harmonic filters also improve power factor.
Your selection of PSS model number should be based on your kVAR requirements and
target power factor. You ’ll benefit from both cleaner power and efficient use of
energy.
| Guaranteed performance |
| IEEE-519 compliance is achievable with the active harmonic
filter selected and installed. You ’ll achieve <5%THID (total harmonic
current distortion) and attenuate harmonics up to the 50th
harmonic integer. |
Active harmonic filters continually monitor the AC load current to determine harmonic
content. When harmonic distortion is detected, the filter injects a compensating current
into the load supply, canceling out harmonic currents caused by non-linear
loads. The fast response time of the filter adapts quickly to dynamic system
conditions.
No system analysis required
System analysis can be costly and be rendered obsolete as soon as new equipment is
added to the system load bus. Active harmonic filters eliminate the need for power
system analysis and related expenses.
No additional hardware required
Active harmonic filters are supplied with the appropriate current transducers and
includes an internal EMI/RFI filter to suppress high frequency switching noise.
• Cancel from 50 amps to 600 amps of harmonics with single units!
• Connect multiple units in parallel to achieve higher ratings!
Select based upon the magnitude of harmonics you wish to cancel.
Connect multiple units on the line (in parallel) to achieve greater harmonic cancellation capability.
